ASUS PM interview questions

I am interviewing for the Product Manager position at ASUS. The interview process is two-sided. In the first interview, you will be asked to take a logic test, then come to the human resources meeting for an hour-long interview, and finally be interviewed by the first-level supervisor. The second interview is to prepare a product-related briefing, which will be conducted by the department's first-level supervisor and the department's second-level supervisor. This paragraph will detail the job vacancies respectively.
First interview questions
HR interview questions
Human Resources mainly asks about background and personality traits. When preparing, you can think more about what your experiences have made you like, and the mental journey of each experience.
- Why do you want to enter graduate school?
- What problems did you encounter when writing the thesis? Did you encounter any problems getting along with your supervisor?
- Can you explain more about the case-taking part? What problems did you encounter in the case-taking department and how to solve them?
Supervisor interview questions
The questions asked by the supervisor include the execution process of previous project experience, clarifying whether the interviewer has the characteristics consistent with the PM, and questions about the product itself.
- Do you know about motherboards? Why do you want to make a motherboard?
- What do you think of the future trend of motherboards?
- What's the most challenging thing you've ever encountered? How to deal with it?
- Tell us about the process of projects you have executed? Have you encountered any problems? How to deal with it?
- Do you have a preference for a supervisor’s leadership style? Or which kind of supervisor’s leadership style you don’t like?
- What do you think are the most important qualities for a PM?
Second interview questions

The second part is mainly about making a presentation of the product unboxing video, and presenting the features of the product to the supervisor. It should be that I hope to understand your knowledge and interest in motherboards through the English presentation. What’s more embarrassing here is that I misunderstood the meaning of the question at first. I thought it was about planning a live broadcast program. Because I spent a lot of time discussing the live broadcast project that I was responsible for during my internship, so the briefing for the second interview was actually wrong. , and then I worked hard to get the next interview opportunity and re-briefed, so that I had the opportunity to conduct the third interview. (At this time, I realized that it is actually important to take the initiative. I guess the reason why I got the opportunity for the third interview was because I finally asked: Is there still a chance for me to have a third interview~)
The second meeting will be a 10-15 minute briefing in English. We hope that we can identify the main points of this product that we want to present to the media, and what key features we will launch this time and want to emphasize to the media. . After listening to the briefing, the supervisor will ask some questions about the logic of the briefing and product-related questions.
for example:
- Why do you think these features are what the media needs to know?
- You mentioned DDR5, can you briefly explain the difference between DDR5 and DDR4?
- Why do you think 5 M.2 slots are an important feature?
- What is PCIE 4.0? Can you introduce it? What's the difference with the previous generation?

In addition to the product-related questions in the briefing, the first-level supervisor and the second-level supervisor also asked PM-related questions based on personal characteristics and experience. However, it has been so long that I have forgotten it, so I have listed a few questions that still have impressions for your reference.
- If you are a PM, how do you communicate with different departments and plan schedules?
- If your boss tells you that the product will be launched one month early, how are you going to communicate and coordinate with the RDs?
- How do you usually deal with expressing your stress?
- What's the most frustrating thing you've ever encountered?
Most of the questions are related to the position of PM, and they want to test whether your nature is suitable for this position. Therefore, if you want to apply for the PM position, it is recommended that you think more about whether you have experience related to communication and schedule management. If you do not have it, , and how can you convince your supervisor that you have such ability!
ASUS PM interview experience

This interview was an online interview. I had a good interview experience with ASUS human resources and department managers. I could feel the managers' enthusiasm for the product and their emphasis on PM qualities that candidates need to have. And I successfully got this offer. I am currently working as a product manager at ASUS Computer, mainly responsible for the ROG motherboard product. If you are interested in my experience working at ASUS, I will share it with you~
Finally, I would like to explain to you that because I just graduated and applied for this vacancy, friends with work experience may have different interview methods. I hope you will like the topic of this article 😉
