Home office savior! User review of the iRocks T27S Ergonomic Chair

I used to think that as long as a chair could be sat on, it was fine. I was just sitting and using the computer anyway, so what difference did it make? Is it necessary to buy an ergonomic chair?

So I just buy any chair on Shopee for a couple thousand dollars, and if it looks okay, I order it. It's the same at work; I just sit wherever the company provides, and I never really care. After all, I only sit for a few hours a day, so it's fine.

Everything changed after I started working from home. Sitting at home for more than eight hours a day, the chair I bought on Shopee made my back ache. I felt uncomfortable after sitting for a short while and had to keep changing positions. The worst part was that the wheels broke after less than six months, making it difficult to move, and the chair started making strange noises.

It was only then that I realized how important the chair really was.

Later, I made up my mind that if I was going to buy one, I should buy a good one. I went to the Syntrend Creative Park to try out various ergonomic chairs. That afternoon, I sat for the whole afternoon, from chairs costing over 10,000 to chairs costing over 20,000. When I finally sat in the iRocks T27/T27S, I felt, "Yes, this is the feeling." Especially the lumbar support, you could tell the difference as soon as you sat down.

Actually, we already had a T27, but my partner mainly uses this one. However, I always find it very comfortable to sit in, and I often go to borrow it for a while. Especially when he's using it, I'll stand next to him and wait, haha.

Unboxing: The box is huge!

I wasn't too surprised when the box arrived, because I knew it would be huge when I bought the T27, but I still want to warn you, the cardboard box is huge, haha. When I bought it before, there was no elevator, and the delivery driver was really nice; he even helped me carry it up to the second floor. I'm so grateful to him!

The T27S weighs approximately 35 kg in a single box. If you live in an apartment building without an elevator, it's advisable to confirm that someone is home to help you when you receive the package. Otherwise, carrying it upstairs by yourself will be very tiring, I'm not kidding. If you live in a building with an elevator, be sure to bring a trolley.

The first thing you see when you open the box is a huge assembly instruction manual. Each part is individually packaged in a small cardboard box, and the outer padding is also very tight.

Thinking back, because I used to work in product development myself, I've developed a bit of an occupational hazard. When I see these products, I pay special attention to their packaging design, seeing how they pass drop tests to prevent them from being bumped or dropped during shipping. I think their packaging is very comprehensive.

Overall, their packaging is very complete and provides good protection against impacts, showing that the design is very thoughtful.

The parts include: chair back, chair cushion (including footrest), armrests, gas spring, aluminum alloy chair feet, PU wheels, and a screw kit. Each parts box is labeled with its contents and quantity, which is quite thoughtful; if you find any discrepancies in the quantity after unpacking, you can report it immediately.

The assembly instructions are very clear, and you can get it done in about fifteen to twenty minutes by following the steps.

However, since I'm terrible at household chores, I remember it took me over an hour to assemble my iRocks T27 the first time I did it myself. So this time, I asked my partner to help me assemble it. He finished it in about 20 minutes! (I believe everyone is more capable than me at household chores, so it should be done in about 30 minutes.)

Here are a few assembly tips:

1. When assembling the chair cushion and backrest, you can place the cushion upside down on a table or box, which will save a lot of effort.
2. The bottom of the handrail is marked with L and R. Pay attention to the direction so you don't have to worry about installing it on the wrong side.
3. When tightening screws, do not tighten them all the way through at once. Wait for the screws to become stuck. It is recommended to tighten each screw in sections.

The box includes an instruction card, which is like a very large instruction manual (perhaps for the elderly?). It clearly explains all the adjustment functions. As someone with a design background, I found the instruction card very easy to understand. It is concise, intuitive, and easy to comprehend, making the overall assembly process feel very smooth. When using it for the first time, you can refer to it to avoid getting confused about what each part does.

User experience: Six things I like most about the T27S

1. T27S Lumbar Support: My favorite design feature of this chair.

This is what I think is the most impressive feature of the T27S. Its lumbar support has three adjustable positions, unlike some designs that are fixed in one position.

• First section (first section fixed)The lumbar support directly presses against your lower back, providing the strongest support.
• Second section (middle section)It has some elasticity, but it still has support.
• The third stage (rear rebound)The softest mode will move with your movements.

I personally prefer to adjust it to the tightest setting; the feeling of having my lower back completely supported is really comfortable. Even if I slump down in the chair, my lower back won't be unsupported. When working for long periods, having a lumbar support makes a huge difference.

2. T27S Armrest Design: A Subtle Touch of Rounded Curves

The armrests are adjustable in height, forward/backward movement, and left/right movement—features found on other chairs as well—but what makes the T27S particularly comfortable is its...Arc design.

Normally, armrests are flat, so when you put your hand on them, you just "rest" it. But the armrests of this chair have a U-shaped concave curve, so when you put your arm on them, you feel like you are being "supported," rather than simply resting on a flat surface.

In actual use, whether typing or using the mouse, your arm can naturally relax and retract, and you won't get tired even after using it for a long time.

3. T27S Footrest Design:

Since I already had the T27, and now with the T27S, I can clearly see the differences between the two. This footrest is really the icing on the cake, allowing me to use it in different situations!

Previously, the T27 was mainly used for work, but with the T27S footrest, you'll find that it can also be used for reading or more leisure activities.

For example, I really enjoy reading in a chair. With a footrest, I can almost lie flat, and my feet have a place to rest, which is super comfortable. It's the same when I'm watching TV series. I can just lie back, stretch my legs out, and I don't want to get up at all. When I want to take a break while working, I can just grab a small blanket and lie back for a short nap.

I also want to talk about the T27S footrest. I really like how it's very space-friendly for small apartments.

It canStored completely under the chairWhen not in use, it folds up completely without taking up any space or getting in the way. It has a multi-fold design, folding into three sections, and fits snugly under the chair. It can support a weight of 25 kg and remains stable without wobbling.

However, one thing to note is that when you fold up the footrests, remember to keep your hands outside the footrests, otherwise they'll get pinched if they're inside. I got pinched two or three times, and it hurt so much XD

4. Breathable material: Not stuffy in summer, not cold in winter.

This chair is made of "cloud-like mesh fabric", which is very breathable and will not sag.

I used to sit in leather chairs at the company. In the summer, they would make my bottom sweat and stick to my skin, and in the winter, they would be freezing cold as soon as I sat down. Mesh chairs don't have this problem. They are comfortable to sit in all year round, and they provide enough support so they won't sag after sitting for a long time.

5. T27S Headrest: Multi-stage adjustment

The headrest can be adjusted in multiple height and angle settings. It really has quite a few settings, so basically no matter how tall or short you are, you can adjust it to a comfortable position.

6. The wheels are super quiet (a must-see for apartment dwellers!)

This is very important to me. Now I live in an apartment, and the cheap chair I used to live in was super noisy when it rolled around. Every time I moved it, I was afraid the downstairs neighbors would come knocking on the door, hahaha.

The T27S uses PU silent wheels, which are extremely quiet when rolling. There is no harsh friction sound when pushing it back and forth on the floor. People living in apartments or high-rise buildings should really pay attention to this.
