If he clicked SEO, do you want Kit to add it for him? Interests | SEOTo automate email communication, add another tag. This "do something after clicking a link" feature is called Link Trigger.

First, let's look at the flowchart: How does this setup actually work?

Sequence Map: What are the responsibilities for each letter?

The main points don't need to be copied verbatim. The key is that each letter should only be responsible for one task and should provide the reader with the most relevant information at that moment.

timing of delivery Main direction The task of this letter Required content
After clicking The topic you just selected: See here first. Responding to the interests already expressed by readers Starting point of the topic, specific examples, and don't pretend you don't know what he ordered.

First, let's look at the kit demonstration exclusive to this article.

The following screen is a Kit Demo recreated for this article and is not shared with other articles. The first image shows the "Link Trigger Click to Categorize" sequence; the entire sequence remains inactive, and the email on the right remains in draft mode.

What can Kit Link Trigger do?

Common uses include:

  • Add a tag after clicking the topic link.
  • Click "I want to participate" to join the candidate sequence.
  • Remove the tag after clicking "Don't want to receive this type of content anymore".
  • Record your specific interests after clicking on the resource link.

Clicking is merely evidence of action and does not signify completion of purchase, reservation, or contract. For a formal completion status, refer to the corresponding system's success record.

How do I create a Kit Link Trigger?

Step 1: Create a new rule in Rules

Open Automation → RulesEstablish a new rule. Trigger selection Click a link Alternatively, check the corresponding Link Trigger option in the interface.

Step 2: Enter the actual destination URL

Readers will still need to go to a certain page after clicking, so the complete URL should be provided, such as the article, download page, or reservation instructions page.

Don't just write # Or it could be a non-existent URL. A Link Trigger is still an actual link, and clicking it will take the reader to the destination page.

Step 3: Set the action after clicking

Actions can include adding a tag, removing a tag, adding a sequence, or other available actions. Beginners should choose one action first, and only add more after confirming its purpose.

Step 4: Insert the Link Trigger into Email

Return to the Email editor, select the text or button, and then select the Link Trigger you just created. Pasting the original destination URL directly will not execute the actions in the Rule.

Kit naming convention with dot links and tags

Tag names should ideally make their origin and meaning immediately clear to your future self, for example:

  • Interests | SEO | Email Clicks
  • Candidate | One-person business model development plan
  • Preference | Only receive e-newsletters

Do not put sensitive information in tags, and do not write "one click" as a tag. Purchased or Appointment made.

How do I connect Kit Link Trigger to Visual Automation?

First, add a tag to the Link Trigger, then Visual Automation uses this tag as the entry point:

Click the link → Add a tag → Enter the corresponding sequence

After entering Automation, press the middle plus sign and select... Action → Email sequenceThis will lead the reader into the subsequent content.

Why is the Kit Link Trigger not responding during testing?

First check:

  1. The email contained a Link Trigger, not a regular website address.
  2. The rule has been saved, and both the trigger and action are complete.
  3. What you are viewing is the actual email you received, not an editor preview.
  4. The clicker is a subscriber that can be identified in Kit.
  5. The tag name and Automation entry are exactly the same.

The kit's official documentation states that clicks in the preview screen will not trigger automatic actions. To test the production workflow, please use test subscribers you have permission to access and avoid touching the real user list.

When should you not use Kit Link Trigger?

  • Payment confirmed successful.
  • Determine if the contract is completed.
  • To speculate on health, finances, or other sensitive conditions.
  • A single accidental touch could permanently alter a high-risk process.

These situations require more reliable sources of information or confirmation from real people.
