You've written three emails in Kit and named the Sequences. You've waited a day, but your inbox remains empty.
Don't rebuild the entire process at this point. The common reasons why Kit Sequence doesn't send a message usually fall into three categories: the person hasn't even arrived, the message hasn't been sent yet, or time and conditions prevent them from doing so.
Sequence It's a stack of emails arranged in order;Visual Automation It's a roadmap for getting subscribers into the Sequence. Both sides need to be established for the message to begin.
First, let's look at the debugging decision tree: how does this setup actually work?
Has a person truly entered a Sequence?
Is the email draft or published?
Are Delay, date, and exclusion criteria blocking the view?
Try it again using your own test address.
Sequence Map: What are the responsibilities for each letter?
The following main points are identical to those in this demo; check the status of both emails first, then check the time and eligibility of recipients.
| timing of delivery | Main direction | The task of this letter | Required content |
|---|---|---|---|
| immediately | Error correction email 1 | First check if the email is a draft or published. | First, exclude the most common state problems. | The Published status of each letter, and whether the Sequence is Active. |
| 1 day | Error Detection 2 | Check Delay, Mailing Date and Eligibility | Confirmation time and eligibility for receipt were not blocked. | Delay, Allowed Shipping Date, Account Time Zone, Tag/Segment/Filter, Has it already been received? |
First, let's look at the kit demonstration exclusive to this article.
The following screen is a Kit Demo recreated for this article and is not shared with other articles. The first screen shows the "Sequence without sending emails debugging check" sequence; the entire sequence remains inactive, and the emails on the right remain in draft mode.

The second image shows the "DEMO|Sequence Doesn't Send Letters" Automation, which entered with the tag specific to this post and received the same Sequence. The Automation in the image remains inactive, with 0 subscribers.

Kit Sequence: Where to check before sending a letter?
Check the following steps in order. Only proceed to the next step after confirming each step.
1. Does Kit Sequence have subscribers?
Open the Sequence's Subscribers or Reports section to confirm that there are indeed people listed there.
If 0 subscribers are displayed, the problem is most likely at the entry point: the form is not connected, the tag was not added successfully, or Visual Automation did not send the user in.
Don't assume someone has joined a Sequence just because you "saw their name." Check the Sequence's recipient status itself.
2. Is the Kit Sequence Email published or a draft?
The draft is just a draft and will not be sent out. Each letter needs to be checked individually because within the same sequence, the first letter may be published and the second may still be a draft.
This is also the most important dividing line between the demo and the official process. When I created the tutorial screen, I deliberately kept a draft to avoid any mis-sending; I only released each email one by one when it was officially launched.
3. Has the delay of the Kit Sequence not finished yet?
After 1 day It means wait one day after the previous email was sent. If you just added the person ten minutes ago, the second email certainly won't be sent yet.
Also, be aware of whether you've recently modified the Delay. People already in the process may not start again according to your new version.
4. Does the shipping date for the Kit Sequence include today?
Sequences can be restricted to specific days of the week for delivery. If only Monday through Friday is selected, people who join on Saturday may have to wait until the next permitted day.
Also, confirm your account's time zone. If the "this morning" date you see differs from the date recognized by your Kit account, the schedule will appear to be a step behind.
5. Are there any exclusion conditions for Kit Sequence?
Check the Exclude subscribers section in Sequence Settings. A certain tag, segment, or purchase status might be excluding this subscriber.
Exclusion criteria are often forgotten, especially when you copy an old sequence and then change its content, the old settings may also be copied along with it.
6. Is Visual Automation Active?
Inactive Automation will not add new subscribers, nor will it allow existing subscribers to continue. Even if the nodes are complete on the screen, it will not function when closed.
Before officially launching, ensure that the entry point and each Action are correctly connected, and then have it enabled by authorized personnel. Do not casually enable old, official Automation systems for testing purposes.
7. Did Kit Sequence Behavior leave people inside?
There is a question in Sequence Settings: Should people who join through Visual Automations remain in the Sequence after the event is completed?
select Yes Sometimes, a person might remain in this sequence without proceeding to the next automation node. In general, during orientation or event workflows, it's necessary to carefully confirm whether the next step should be selected. No.
8. Are there any blocked or delayed messages on the receiving end?
If the kit shows it has been sent, the problem may be on the receiving end. Check spam, promotional categories, corporate email protection, and bounce status.
"Not seen in the main inbox" and "not shipped by the platform" are two different things. Check Kit's actual delivery history first, then decide which side to investigate.
Kit Sequence: Fastest Sequence for Determining If No Mail is Sent
You can remember it as these eight characters:
Person → Letter → Wait → Day → Arrange → Road → Leave → Receive
That is, subscriber, published, delay, shipping date, exclusions, automation, behavior, and recipient.
Checking only one layer at a time usually leads to finding the cause faster than changing settings everywhere.
