[Smart and concise communication] Thoughts after reading | If you are born in the Internet age, you can’t miss it

聰明簡潔的溝通讀後感

I came across the book [Smart and Concise Communication] a while ago. I saw many experts sharing this book on Facebook, so I immediately bought the e-book to read it!

This book is very suitable for us living in the digital age. Whether it is work, self-media or marketing, it can bring you many benefits and is very practical! After reading it myself, I think I will be very serious about condensing the language now, and try not to waste everyone's time reading meaningless words XD

Today’s article will share with you a brief introduction to [Smart and Concise Communication], my thoughts after reading it, and some useful key points of this book. Let’s continue reading!

[Smart and concise communication] Brief introduction

I simply use the cases in the book to show you, so that everyone can clearly understand the core concepts of this book.

After reading the above, you should be able to guess that this book teaches you how to simplify "nonsense" into "things that everyone is willing to read."

This book won't teach you some skills you won't need. The skills it teaches are very practical, very in line with today's times, and very comprehensive communication guides.

This book is divided into three paragraphs. The first is to introduce what smart and concise communication is, the second is to teach you how to do it, and finally it will teach you how to take action and actually practice it.

[Smart and concise communication] This concept is like a sharp tool in modern communication. It teaches you how to use fewer words to speak more powerfully, more accurately, and express more.

[Smart and concise communication] Thoughts after reading

When I was reading this book now, I thought back to my past self. I really said a lot of useless words and probably wasted a lot of everyone's time XD

In the past, I often put a lot of effort into cramming information into meetings, sending letters, or organizing documents, all to convey what I wanted to say to everyone.

But the book [Smart and Concise Communication] told me:“We tend to focus too much on what we want to say rather than what others need to hear.”

This was a wake-up call for me.

  • When I wrote company announcement emails in the past, I only thought about how to squeeze in all the things I wanted to say. I always didn’t pay that much attention to what people wanted to know.
  • In the past, when I was in a meeting, I just listened to everyone chatting away at the meeting. I didn't expect that this actually meant telling all busy people that this meeting was not important.

This is not the correct way to communicate, and no one can listen at all!

[Smart and concise communication] Who is this book suitable for?

As long as you are writing emails, meeting, giving speeches, making presentations, doing social media or visual design, etc., and generally come into contact with "communication" in your work and life, this is the book for you!

If you fit any of the following descriptions, then this book is for you!

  • Every time I take the time to write a lengthy email, no one wants to read it.
  • Every meeting takes a lot of time, and we never get anything done. We also have to discuss things that have nothing to do with the meeting.
  • No one is interested in the content of each e-mail, and the open rate is getting lower and lower.
  • Every time I communicate with my boss, I get called and asked if I can talk about the key points.

[Smart and concise communication] Sharing of golden quotes

When I was reading "Smart and Concise Communication", I saw many golden sentences, and my mouth opened and wow~~ That's right! , and then draw lines XD
Today I would like to share with you some golden sentences from this book. If you see some sentences that strike you, you can buy this book and take a look!

“If you want important information to be remembered in the digital world, you need to completely reimagine (and repackage) the way you deliver it.”

"If no one sees or reads it, no one cares."

"Tell me a story, don't tell me anything related to the story."

Thoughts after reading: Reflections on the Millennium Era Entering the Internet Era

“We tend to focus too much on what we want to say rather than what others need to hear.”When I saw this sentence in the book, I was hit hard.

At my age, I experienced the Internet era when I was growing up.
From the beginning of dial-up, the ancient interface of Facebook, the rise of Instagram, to the current short video era.

I found that the way we learned to write in the past is no longer sufficient in this era.
When we wrote essays in the past, we had to write inheritance, transfer, and combination, but people in the Internet age no longer have the patience to read these things.

After I finished reading this book, I really thought hard about how I needed to adjust my writing.

I should no longer think about how to put everything I want to say into the content. I should think about, what do people want to hear? Want to know?
Now all of this is a user-oriented life, and we need to think about these things carefully.

Therefore, I am now very serious about implementing this exercise on threads, an emerging platform.
