wonFive Golden Horse Awards"Sunshine" stood out among last year's Taiwanese national films. It is directed by director Zhong Menghong. The famous Buddha Plus is also his work. It can be seen that Director ZhongThe emotional description of the "environment" is very delicate, how to achieve a delicate interpretation? This time it is not presented in the form of a film review, but mainly my experience.

The main plot revolves around an ordinary family. The youngest son of the family was sentenced to a juvenile prison for his mistakes, which gradually caused the whole family to fall apart. Every member of the family is waiting to get out of the gloom and wait for the day when the sun shines...

No thunder short review

Sunshine Shines is a very heavy movie that is not just like its title. The plot tells the story of two sons in the same family with completely different personalities and development. How do they integrate the dark clouds in the hearts of each family member and wait for their own sunshine to shine?

Do you want to say that this is an injustice due to social class? I can't say this. The middle-class character portrayed in the play will not have the same gap caused by the obvious proletarian and working class in Dafo Plaza.

I think what Sunshine is trying to bring out is that ordinary middle-class families have unfair expectations for different children. Or is the entire education system inappropriate? Or situations caused by different personalities,It is very delicate, but it also brings out the problems of the whole environment for the middle class..

The director indeed said this:

When you see that aspect of the middle class, it has a feeling of poverty and rundown to a certain extent. This is generally the case in Taiwan."

I really like the director's use of everyday life that is accessible to everyone to talk about these serious issues, and the overall atmosphere created. The emotions that the actors pile up and add up in each scene make the atmosphere of the movie more compact. And heart-wrenching.

I think it is a pity that each scene does create the climax that it should have at that time, but the overall connectivity of the plot is relatively low. It is a pity that there is no way to convey the emotions that each segment brings to the audience, all at once. .

Compared to the Big Buddha, the sunshine is closer to you and me

Many people will compare Dafo Plus with Sunshine.
Me personally too, but I prefer Big Buddha Plaza to Sunshine.

Why do you say this?

When I think about it, both works are excellent.
After analysis, I found that I feel different. I think it is due to my past experience and the environment in which I grew up.

When I watch a movie, there are usually two factors that resonate with the movie:

  1. It can capture a small part of my life experience, and after the emotional extension, I can experience more of what the movie brings.
  2. Being so far removed from my past experience, I barely knew the established, very shallow impression of this group, which moved me based on the sometimes exaggerated rendering of the movie.

Sunshine is somewhere between the two, very close to my life experience, but not close enough for me to extend my emotions. Naturally, it is difficult to experience more of what the movie wants to bring me.

On the contrary, I can understand the general established impression of the working class described by Buddha Plath in society. Through the plot rendering of the movie (which is also true to a certain extent, I believe), I was so affected by this movie. Be moved by the movie!

So I think that those viewers who think the sun shines are more beautiful because the sun shines really touches a small part of their life experience. Perhaps it is what they have encountered or what passers-by have told them, which can be truly vivid. Feel the sun-drenched reality of this film.
